Begin your journey to fill your larder and pantry with good foods! This hands-on session will have you mixing and kneading as you learn about making rye breads and other rye baked goods.
Rye Breads and more
Get ready for winter by warming up with several rye breads, cookies and biscuits.
You’ll learn to make buttermilk rye bread, rye shards, and rye/red fife whole wheat bread. These baked goods are all naturally leavened, and take two days to develop flavor, texture, and nutrition before baking. We will have started some of the baked goods before class so all steps of the baking process can be experienced.
You’ll take home a loaf of freshly baked rye bread and many recipes to keep you busy and your pantry stocked.
A vegetarian lunch showcasing these baked goods will be served.
