Pestos – Preserving the Harvest
Learn to make pesto from greens in the garden and throughout the food forest. We’ll be using nettles, chicories, and greens, as well as basil and other herbs to produce a variety of nutritious pesto for your winter pantry. Canned and frozen preservation will be discussed. You’ll take home your pesto to use or freeze.
This session includes:
- All supplies and greens
- Hands-on instructions and recipes to take home
- A tasty lunch showcasing how to use pesto in innovative dishes
- Your pesto to freeze or use in your own recipes
A vegetarian lunch using a variety of pestos in different ways will give you an understanding of the many ways to use this wonderful greenery at the table.
